What this is

CareTeamBinder is a place for a family to keep their own copy of the information about their child, and to decide who else sees which parts of it.

It is not a medical record system. It is not the chart your clinic keeps, it holds no legal standing with any clinic or insurer, and nothing you write here reaches anybody’s medical system.

It is not the file your school keeps. Putting a document in here does not put it in your child’s school record, and it is not a request under any education law. If you need something in the school’s file, you still have to send it to the school and ask them in writing.

Keep asking your clinicians and your school for their own records. This is your copy, and it is worth having because it is the one you can hand to somebody in a meeting.

This is not medical advice

Nothing here diagnoses, treats or advises. The alerts about therapy minutes, freshness and contradictions are arithmetic on what you typed in. They are prompts for a conversation with a professional.

What we ask of you

• Be a person over 18 who is a parent or guardian of the child, or somebody one of them invited.
• Put in information you have a right to put in.
• Keep your password to yourself. Anybody holding it can read the whole binder.
• Think before you share a link. A sitter link or a school link works for whoever is holding it, so send it to the person you meant and switch it off when it has done its job.
• Do not use this to harass anybody, and do not try to reach a family whose binder is not yours.

What you keep

Your child’s information stays yours. We do not sell it, we do not train anything on it, and we do not hand it to anybody outside the three companies named in the privacy policy.

You can export the whole binder as one file, and you can delete everything. Both live in Settings and neither needs our permission.

Paying

You pay for a binder. Everyone you add is free. There is a free month to start with, and the price is on the home page.

If a payment fails, everything already in the binder stays readable and adding new things stops until it is sorted out. The sitter page and the school page keep working whatever is owed.

Cancel whenever you like, from Settings. We will not charge you again after that, and everything already in the binder stays readable.

When a subscription ends, the binder becomes read-only. We keep it for six months from that day and then delete it. Before that happens you get two emails, and the second one carries a link to the whole binder so you keep your own copy. The link works until the deletion date. Paying again at any point in the six months stops the deletion. Signing in does not.

If we shut down

We will email everyone with an account and give 30 daysnotice. Exporting your binder works for every one of those days, and it does not need us to be around to help.

At the end of the 30 days everything is destroyed and the storage is closed. We are telling you this plainly rather than promising to keep your records running forever, because a company that has shut down cannot keep that promise and you deserve to know which kind of promise you were given.

What we can do

We can close an account that is being used to harm somebody, or that is trying to reach data belonging to another family. We will tell you why and we will give you a way to take your data out first, unless a court tells us otherwise.

We can change how the product works. If a change takes something away that you were relying on, we will say so before it happens.

What we cannot promise

Software goes wrong. This one is built and run by a small team, and it can be unavailable, slow, or briefly broken. Do not make it the only copy of anything you cannot lose. Export it now and then, and keep the paper you already have.

We are responsible for looking after your data properly, which is set out in the privacy policy. We are not responsible for a decision somebody makes after reading something you wrote here, or for what happens if you send a share link to the wrong person.

If we disagree

Email info@careteambinder.com first. A person reads it and most things end there. Anything that cannot be settled that way goes to the courts where CareTeamBinder is registered. Ask us and we will tell you where that is.
